I am on a low carb diet !
This topic has been the debate of the century. To begin with, I am not on a low carb diet. Yes, I love my rice! Many claim carbs are bad and the others the exact opposite. So let's try breaking this down on why carbs are good for you.
There are two types of carbs, simple and complex carbs. I am sure all of you have Google so you can do a bit more of research on that to know in detail. To make it easy, let's call them bad and good carbs like we always have. And, what do carbs do? In simple words, they are your main source of energy, our body needs them.
If I have to give you an example, let me tell you a personal experience. I am athlete who has taken part in many events. During the time of competitions, my coach used to tell me and the rest of the athletes to have a rice meal, it could be as plain and simple as curd rice. We would ask him why, and wonder if it'll make us sleepy. In fact, it did the exact opposite of what we thought. Our bodies recovered quite sooner between races, and we were strong and energetic for the next race. So, there you go, another myth busted!
Have you noticed while watching a tennis match, the players always end up snacking on banana. It is rich in carbs and potassium which gives energy. So, my point is, we all need carbs. It plays an important role in our dietary system. Cutting of carbs will not only cause you fatigue and hinder in your body recovery process, but also lack of carbs will induce a lot or sugar cravings which we all know is not good.
Hope I have helped you, and if there is anything you would like to add, feel free to write to us. Learning is always fun!
